Rave and Rant : When commenting on a post

These rants and raves are directed at the people who suck the joy out of a post no matter what spirit it was written in.

I am very fortunate to have good people commenting on most of my posts.  Then I read other posts of interest to me and there is some idiot taking a good write and making it in to a forum to show people what an idiot is.

No, I am not naming names.  Notice the plural !  Some very thoughtful people post on here and are sharing their thoughts and ideas.  Hey, here is the truth of it summed up;  You do not have any interest in the topic, do not read the post, you have nothing good or positive to say, move on and say nothing, you want an argument, look in the mirror and last but not least, please do not be redundant in your numerous comments.  They are still stupid no matter how many times you post them.

Give your opinion if it differs or make a comment. Do not rant and rave some idiotic minor point that has no relevance to the topic.

Please do not make a fool of yourself over and over again.  Your stupid comments do not boost my number of replies enough to matter.

If people are here only for the numbers game, you deserve the idiotic comments ~ just sayin'

You’re not wrong. Granted that this is a public forum and commentary is open, and expected, but there’s really no need to weigh in on everything. And you are correct that there are those that start almost every post with an insult and have nothing productive to add to the conversation. But the poster of the thread should have a share of the responsibility here as well. The offending idiots could be easily blocked and their comments deleted from the thread if the poster were of a mind to take such measures. Personally, I completely ignore the few that really annoy me, and never respond to anything they write. I may make a comment on what someone else wrote in one of their threads, but never directly engage with the offending idiots. (NOTE TO ALL: If I NEVER respond to your comments, you’re one of the ‘few’! )

I don’t mind a lucid, intelligent rebuttal, well written and stated. It’s when someone thinks he or she can “tell” me how or what to think, say, do that I flame. Sure, have opinions, but don’t get on here and tell [me] how to be. I hated it when my dad tried to regulate my mom on how to vote or what she should believe or whatever (different generation raised on a whole other set of antiquated ideas). Comments are welcome as long as they are respectfully—and that doesn’t simply mean putting the words “with all due respect, . . . .”

Never telling anyone what to do. I do make strong suggestions.

That’s perfect. I just don’t like the ones who get on here and tell [me] how to vote or who to vote for or how to think or whatever. No one, at least in my country, has that right. Well, they have the right to tell me I guess but I have the right to find them despicable for it. And these types of people think just saying how [I] should think/feel/be is enough to persuade me of their superior perspective, of their rightness. They don’t offer any food for thought to me to chew on, no reasons why they may be right. They just think telling everyone else how to be will make it so. Ugh. Tell me how you think I should feel/think/be but give me your reasons why you think that’s a better way to be so I can see from your perspective, maybe find some new meaning or something. Don’t just say “do it my way” with nothing to back it up with. I’m don’t mean “you” as in you personally, sorry; it’s those ranters who I get the feeling they couldn’t logically, calmly discuss their points of view even on a good day that I’m thinking of.

You’re right pepe. Except for dealing with trolls this stupid fool is surprised to see such a snobish attitude on an open blog site.

I am only talking about a few that take a contrary point of view for the sake of being contrary. If you disagree, state your opinion, no problem. There are some pretty well informed folks on here that discuss topics at length. That is interesting. It’s when the name calling gets personal that I get a little annoyed. Snob, I think not, respect is a better word. Will defend your right to say what ever you want, does not mean I have to read it. IMHO.
